Audit whether AI answers cite accurate sources

Keep a reproducible evidence log and separate mentions, citations, and recommendations.

Use the procedure on a representative sample, keep the evidence, and record the next action.

Record and verify an AI answer

  • Write a fixed set of neutral audience questions, with no brand names. Record model/product, access mode, region, language, and date.
  • Save the full answer and every source URL. Label each result as absent, mention, citation, or recommendation using a written rule.
  • Open cited pages and verify that the cited passage supports the exact claim. Note outdated facts, missing context, and mismatched URLs.
  • Repeat the same sample later. Report the denominator and date; a few generated answers do not establish stable visibility or business impact.
