Image audit

Find missing alt attributes, failed or pending images, missing dimensions, and excess pixel resolution.

Use these steps as a working checklist and adapt them to the project’s evidence, scope, and constraints.

Practical steps

  • Open the page you want to inspect and its browser developer console. Use responsive mode first for the mobile overflow checker.
  • Review the code, paste the complete snippet into the console, and press Enter. It reads the current page; only the sitemap metadata tool and same-origin checkers make bounded requests.
  • Review the console output or downloaded CSV/JSON. Browser policies, authentication, and unsupported server methods can make some checks inconclusive.
