Make a site check reproducible

A result is useful when another person can repeat the check and understand its limits.

Record the exact URL, final URL after redirects, date and time zone, device, language, method, and raw response. Keep observations separate from explanations: “HTTP 200” is an observation; “the page is indexed” needs separate evidence.

For a release, capture the initial HTML and rendered page, robots.txt, canonical, language links, form behavior, and key mobile widths. Give every failed check an owner and a next action. Re-run the same steps after a change; compare evidence instead of relying on memory.

Steps to follow

  • Define the expected state before checking.
  • Save raw evidence and the method used.
  • Mark unavailable checks as “not checked”.
  • Repeat the same procedure after a fix.
