People find your app by name but not by the problem it solves · many listing views but few installs · the app is in one store while its audience uses another · the listing has not changed since launch.
ASO (App Store Optimization) means improving your app’s store listing so it appears for searches your customers make and turns listing visitors into installs. It is for owners of product, service, banking and gaming apps that get fewer installs than they want or are entering a new store or country. Many apps use the store as their main first-contact channel: if people cannot find or trust the listing, paid ads send them into a leaky funnel.

listing views × install conversion × paying/active user share × user value. If 10,000 people view the listing each month and install conversion rises from 20% to 25%, that is 500 additional installs per month without extra traffic spend. Use your own numbers; growth may also be zero.
listing audit and keyword research (1–2 weeks) → copy and visual briefs (1–2 weeks) → your team publishes and runs experiments (then monthly) → before/after report. Timing is indicative.

Store rankings, ratings and install counts are not guaranteed; stores decide what to show. Excluded: publishing through your company’s developer consoles (your team does this, or grants authority), app development, paid install ads and legal setup for individual countries.
Is ASO the same as SEO? The logic is similar (query → page → conversion), but the platform differs: each store ranks listings by its own rules and considers user behavior. · How long until we see an effect? Update timing depends on the store: Google Play and the App Store handle listing changes differently. We review performance after data accumulates; we cannot promise a timeline. · Does the app need a website? It helps: search engines can index it, and store links make it easier for people to install the app.
